M.J. Mots'oari Chambers is a legally established and professional legal practice founded in 2007 by Advocate Makhetha Julius Mots'oari, an Advocate of the Courts of Lesotho and Commissioner of Oaths.
Since its establishment, the Chambers has developed as a multidisciplinary legal practice committed to the provision of professional, ethical, accessible and results-oriented legal services to individuals, businesses, corporations, public institutions, non-governmental organisations, community structures and other entities.
The Chambers combines legal knowledge, litigation experience, professional advocacy and practical commercial understanding to provide clients with legal solutions that are responsive to their individual circumstances and institutional needs.
The firm has progressively developed its professional capacity and currently comprises four legal practitioners and four supporting staff members, creating a structure capable of handling matters across a broad range of legal disciplines while maintaining appropriate administrative and professional support.

Advocate Makhetha Julius Mots'oari
Founder & Principal
Advocate Makhetha Julius Mots'oari is the founder of M.J. Mots'oari Chambers.
He is an Advocate of the Courts of Lesotho and Commissioner of Oaths. He obtained his LLB from the National University of Lesotho, followed by a Postgraduate Diploma in Labour Law Conciliation and Arbitration and a degree in Psychology and Counselling.
His professional experience extends beyond private legal practice. He has served in public-sector roles, including as a Cabinet Administrator in the Office of the former Prime Minister, Dr Motsoahae Thomas Thabane, and as a Compliance and Assurance Specialist in the Office of the Economic Advisor.
His wider professional portfolio has included corporate leadership, tourism, security, consultancy, governance and institutional development.
This combination of legal practice and broader institutional experience contributes to the Chambers' ability to understand legal issues not only from a purely technical perspective but also from the perspective of management, governance, compliance, business, public administration and organisational development.
Our History
M.J. Mots'oari Chambers was established in 2007 with the objective of creating a professional legal practice capable of providing competent legal representation and advisory services to the Basotho public.
From its establishment, the Chambers has participated in litigation and legal advisory work involving individuals, organisations, associations and institutions.
The firm's name has appeared in publicly reported Lesotho legal matters, including matters involving labour and institutional disputes. For example, publicly available reporting records the Chambers acting for the Lesotho Police Staff Association in litigation and labour-related disputes.
The firm has continued to develop its professional capacity, broaden its areas of practice and build a team capable of servicing clients across different sectors.
